Republican Candidate for Attorney General Alan Wilson released the following statement regarding efforts by the Federal Government to keep nuclear waste in South Carolina and alter plans for storage in Yucca Mountain.
“I applaud our current Attorney General for his bold action regarding Yucca Mountain. Here in South Carolina, we are blessed with some of the greatest God given resources imaginable. Our current Attorney General is a proven prosecutor who has tirelessly protected our state’s resources.
It is important for both our current as well as our next Attorney General to take the necessary stances to keep facilities like the Savannah River Site from becoming a nuclear dump and from keeping neighboring states from stealing our water and other natural resources.
As Attorney General, I will put my experience as a prosecutor and as a combat veteran to work by fighting to protect our state, our citizens, and our resources day in and day out.”
Wilson is a former Assistant Attorney General, Assistant Solicitor, and combat veteran. He and his wife Jennifer have two children, a 22 month old son Michael and a 2 month old daughter Anna Grace.
