Alan Wilson Kicks Off Campaign for Attorney General with Focus on Family

COLUMBIA, SC – Alan Wilson officially kicked off his campaign for South Carolina Attorney General this morning at the Columbia Chamber of Commerce building in Columbia.

Standing with his wife Jennifer, one-year-old son Michael, parents Joe and Roxanne, and other family members, Wilson began his speech by stating, “The reason I am standing here at this moment can be wrapped up in one word, and that word is: FAMILY.”

A former Assistant Attorney General and Assistant Solicitor from Lexington County, Wilson outlined the importance of having an Attorney General with the proven leadership to keep our families safe.

“The attorney general is our state’s top prosecutor, and the attorney general is also counsel to the people. I regard this office as a sacred trust,” stated Wilson.

As a prosecutor at both the county and state level, Wilson has been vigilant in putting some of South Carolina’s worst and most violent criminals behind bars. He is also a Major in the South Carolina Army National Guard and is the recipient of one of South Carolina’s highest military honors, The Palmetto Cross, for his courage under fire as he led convoys through two insurgent attacks in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

While announcing his candidacy Wilson continued, “I decided to run this race because I want to do all I can to keep your family and mine safe, happy and secure in dangerous times.”

Throughout the course of the announcement, Wilson touched upon his background as a family man, a prosecutor, a military veteran, and an Assistant Attorney General.

Wilson will continue his announcement during a week-long tour of the state.
