Fighting for Utility Rate Relief

The Base Load Review Act, which is constitutionally suspect, is unprecedented in South Carolina history. Our citizens have paid billions of dollars and got absolutely nothing from it but a money pit.

That's why my office has filed a petition to the Public Service Commission requesting rate relief for consumers, suspending the collection of rates under the Base Load Review Act. Will you stand with me in demanding relief for rate payers?

South Carolina General Assembly is well known for passing laws that line the pockets of many interest groups. Morally corrupt in so many ways. Why do I need an attorney to close on my own house? Really? Just one example. The list is almost endless.

It’s a monopoly we don’t have a choice in Energy Companies here in Greenville SC . Duke Energy knew what was at stake and we as South Carolina citizens will pay the price … I say criminal intent from the beginning and we need to prosecute and make D.Energy held responsible and give BACK Our hard earned money #Emron

Thank you for your aggressive effort on behalf of the Citizens of South Carolina, to hold SCANA, SCE&G, and Santee Cooper accountable. The South Carolina legislature is also culpable for violating the Constitution – putting SC Citizens on the hook for any monies these utilities spent, for paying and paying with no accountability to citizens. There have been major failures like this in the past. Southern Indiana Service Co. wanted to build Marble Hill Nuclear Plant, but had no accountability for the money that exceed $8 billion for just one unit. SIPSCO was denied and Marble Hill was not built, sadly. Here, it is another case of company executives that collect their special benefits and bonuses but don’t know or care about the citizens. People should go to prison.

How can SCANA charge us for a service we will never receive? This has hurt seniors on fixed income and the poor the most. The public ratepayer has been defrauded by the Board and Executives. We need rate relieve and a clean sweep of the corporate offices.

I believe the corporate “takers” think us rate payers will believe their bankruptcy threat. It is just another convenient scare tactic. In America the owners of any concern who make bad judgment calls should lose value (including the Scana stock holders).

Remember Scana are the ones who paid their lawyer to script an opinion saying that no engineering review was required for these most complex construction documents (which were never completed as I recall) which led to such obvious failure.

This bad legislation was most probably backed with the heavy-handed tactics of the Quinn cartel. All these takers seem to value us citizens as money fodder for their greedy skimming ways.

David NIVENS I feel like the PSC is not doing the citizens of SC right. They are going to give the utility companies what they want. They do this to make the stock holders happy and more profit for them. I was under the impression that the profits they would make would go back into the companies to expand or do necessary repairs to stay up to date. It’s time that the PSC consider the people that are paying for this. They know that there is not any competition to compete with, that’s why they do it.
