Immediately following his graduation from Francis Marion University in 1996, Alan joined the South Carolina National Guard where his first assignment was as a platoon leader, commanding 36 fellow soldiers and millions of dollars worth of firepower as a field artillery officer. During his 13 years in the National Guard, Alan has been promoted to the rank of Major and received the Combat Action Badge for service in Iraq.

Today, Alan remains active within the South Carolina National Guard. He currently serves as a Judge Advocate General where he provides legal support for soldiers and prosecutes military crimes. Alan first joined the SCNG, immediately following his graduation from Francis Marion University in 1996.
During his 13 years in the Guard, Alan has gone from serving as a platoon leader where he commanded 36 fellow soldiers and millions of dollars worth of firepower as a field artillery officer to the rank of Major and the recipient of the Combat Action Badge for service in Iraq.
