Last night, our volunteers and interns threw a great Halloween Party. Some folks were particularly scary including those pictured below.

We had a trio show up as Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Obamacare. And while everyone had a big laugh, there is nothing funny about the consequences of Obamacare.

Our next Attorney General must be willing to take the lead in battle to stop Obamacare. I will and I need your help.

After chuckling at the photo below, I hope you will click above to contribute to our campaign. Every dollar helps put our message on television in these crucial final days, and every hour helps get out the vote by phone or in person.

Hopefully, you had a good laugh.

In other news, we picked up yet another major newspaper endorsement this morning. The Greenville News joined The State, The Post and Courier, and The Spartanburg Herald Journal in endorsing my candidacy. I hope you will join them with your vote on Tuesday.

We’re now off to Charleston to go on the air with Rocky D on WTMA and then to hold a press conference with small business owners. Tonight, we will be up to Greenville.

Look forward to seeing you soon,
Alan

Wilson for attorney general

Tuesday, October 26, 2010

Alan Wilson would bring a solid prosecutorial background and proven leadership skills to the office of S.C. attorney general.

He also would bring a firm resolve to the lawsuit by 20 states, including this one, against the massive health care reform law passed by Congress and signed by the president earlier this year.

That unprecedented federal power grab’s mandates on individuals and states raise serious constitutional questions. Its vast expansion of Medicaid eligibility significantly increases the states’ required contributions to that program. As Mr. Wilson aptly told us, over the next decade it represents “a $240 million gun to our head.”

Despite that legal conflict with a Democratic White House, however, Mr. Wilson stresses that the attorney general’s office must operate in an even-handed, bipartisan manner.

He also fairly cites his “institutional knowledge” as a former assistant attorney general. Drawing on that experience, and on his tenure as an assistant solicitor in Lexington County, he proposes a variety of innovative solutions to current problems, including severe funding shortfalls, facing the state justice system.

He says court overcrowding can be eased by reallocating resources more efficiently. He wants to give local police officers vital instruction on courtroom procedures to maximize convictions of the guilty. He wants to enlist more private attorneys as pro-bono prosecutors.

And he supports such “outside the box” ideas as diversion programs and drug courts for substance abusers.

He recognizes the rising menace of gang crime and the need to counter it by helping keep youth out of that self-destructive lifestyle through community initiatives with the private sector.

Mr. Wilson received combat decorations for his distinguished service as an Army National Guard field artillery officer — he was promoted to major — in the ongoing war in Iraq. Clearly, he knows what it’s like to make high-stakes leadership decisions.

He also knows what it’s like to prosecute a wide range of crimes — and what critical challenges will face our state’s next attorney general. The voters should choose this well-qualified candidate for this crucial job.

WILSON SAYS STOPPING OBAMA CARE MUST BE TOP PRIOTITY FOR ATTORNEY GENERAL

Republican Candidate Cites Affidavit as Proof “Obama Care” Threatens Disaster for SC

COLUMBIA, SC – In response to breaking news that compliance with just one provision of “ObamaCare” would cost South Carolina an additional $20 Million in tax funds next year, Alan Wilson, Republican candidate for Attorney General, released the following statement:

“Today’s news brings to light the catastrophic consequences that President Obama’s system of socialized medicine will bring to South Carolina unless we take aggressive action to stop it.

“As Attorney General, I will fight to block this unconstitutional effort by the government in Washington to rob South Carolinia’s taxpayers of their personal and economic freedom.

“ObamaCare constitutes one of the greatest threats to personal freedom in our lifetime. If implemented, this law would devastate our economy and trample on the fundamental rights of American citizens.

“South Carolina’s next Attorney General must be prepared to stand up to the Obama Administration and not follow them off the cliff. To that end, I make this pledge: As Attorney General, I will fight to protect South Carolina and to stop this unconstitutional effort to centralize unprecedented powers in Washington, D.C.”

Wilson’s statement and pledge is a direct response to today’s news release from Attorney General Henry McMaster and the general threats posed by ObamaCare.

McMaster’s released a September 28 sworn affidavit from South Carolina Employee Insurance Program Director Stephen Van Camp that was submitted this week as part of the twenty (20) states’ lawsuit seeking to overturn the federal health care law.

McMaster’s release informed South Carolinians that Van Camp’s affidavit revealed provisions of ObamaCare will cost South Carolina 19.34 million on January 1, 2011 and that “Van Camp also indicated that if the state did not increase the employee co-insurance or co-payment costs, the South Carolina could incur additional costs of $60-70 million and could face a non-compliance penalty of $240,000,000.”

Next week, Judge Roger Vinson is expected to rule on the states’ case on October 14th in federal court in Tallahassee, Florida.

Wilson, a former Assistant Solicitor and a former Assistant Attorney, also served a tour of duty in Iraq. He and his wife Jennifer have two young children, Michael and Anna Grace.

This is the e-mail that was just forwarded to me that my Dad sent out.

From: Joe Wilson

My son really did not want me to send this e-mail.

But sometimes, a father just has to brag a little, even if it’s on the computer!

My oldest son, Alan, is running for South Carolina’s Attorney General.

Alan is a proven prosecutor who has the defended the Constitution in the courtroom and fought for it on the battlefields of Iraq.

We have seen firsthand what an impact South Carolina’s Attorney General can have on the federal government.

In an era when the Constitution is constantly under attack from liberals in Washington, we need strong Attorneys General all across the country who will fight tooth and nail to defend the Constitution from these attacks.

You and your family deserve a chief law enforcement officer who has a record of putting away criminals and keeping our streets safe. Alan has done just that, his opponent has never prosecuted a criminal in his life.

I know Alan Wilson better than anyone. Alan has the experience and record necessary to protect the Constitution and protect South Carolina families.

Alan is kicking off his “Defending the Constitution Tour” as he heads into the June 22nd Runoff Election. Please consider helping him out by donating $100, $50 or even $17.76 to support this cause and most of all to ensure we have an Attorney General who will support and defend the Constitution.

Sincerely,
Joe Wilson

P.S. You can click here to contribute.

Former Attorney General Candidate Sheds Light on Negative Attacks
COLUMBIA – Former Republican candidate for Attorney General Robert Bolchoz issued the following response to Lord’s recent criticism of Bolchoz.

BOLCHOZ CHALLENGES LORD TO TELL THE TRUTH

Former Attorney General Candidate Sheds Light on Negative Attacks

COLUMBIA – Former Republican candidate for Attorney General Robert Bolchoz issued the following response to Lord’s recent criticism of Bolchoz.

“I am disappointed (yet not surprised given the state of his campaign and his history of negative tactics) that Leighton Lord decided to mischaracterize my experience and background in a press release he issued yesterday.

His statement is particularly disturbing given that on Thursday afternoon, June 10, 2010, Lord kept me on the phone for almost an hour while he pled for my endorsement and made personal attacks on the last qualified candidate in the race, Alan Wilson.

I will not stand idly by as Leighton Lord plays games with the system, misstates the facts, denigrates my career in public service, and attempts to buy his way into an elective office for which he is not qualified.

Like every citizen in South Carolina, I deserve an Attorney General who is committed to the high calling of public service and dedicated to the goal of keeping the public safe from criminals. Voters should be wary of a big shot boardroom lawyer seeking to build a resume for the next office he seeks.

I endorsed Alan Wilson after spending months on the campaign trail with him and Lord. I have spoken to both of them at length and spent days considering my decision.

I have come to the inescapable conclusion, which is reinforced with each passing day, that Alan shares my principles and convictions regarding the issues that matter. He has lived a life of dedicated public service. Most importantly, he is a prosecutor who knows how to send criminals to prison.

I believe Alan Wilson is the best choice for South Carolina Attorney General.”

(COLUMBIA, SC – Monday, June 14, 2010) Former candidate for Attorney General Robert Bolchoz joined former South Carolina Attorney General Charlie Condon in endorsing Alan Wilson at news conferences today in Mt. Pleasant, Columbia and Greenville.

Last Tuesday, nearly two thirds of South Carolina Republican Primary voters sent a statement that our next Attorney General needs to be a proven prosecutor.

Bolchoz, a former Chief Deputy Attorney General and Deputy Solicitor and Assistant Solicitor, agrees, saying, “I got to know Alan Wilson on the campaign trail. He’s a man of integrity, character and a proven leader. From the courtroom to the battlefield, he has proved he has what it takes to be Attorney General. I am proud to endorse Alan Wilson for Attorney General because he has the prosecutorial experience South Carolinians need.”

Wilson is now the only candidate for Attorney General with prosecution experience.

“Robert Bolchoz is the real deal,” Wilson said. “He was a great competitor and has become a good friend. The only thing better than seeing Robert and his family on the campaign trail is having them on my team. Robert is a proven prosecutor who shares the same values in faith, family, and freedom that I do. Receiving Robert Bolchoz’s endorsement is a tremendous honor and I am proud to have both Robert and Charlie on my team.”

“Alan Wilson is the only prosecutor now running to be South Carolina’s Chief Prosecutor, “Bolchoz added. “Alan and I agree our next Attorney General needs proven prosecution experience and so do an overwhelming majority of Sheriffs and more than 60 current or former prosecutors who are backing Alan Wilson. We support Alan because he has the real experience working with law enforcement to put criminal behind bars and keep our families and streets safe.”

Former Attorney General Charlie Condon also gave his backing to Wilson. “I’ve been a Solicitor, an Attorney General, and a Managing Partner of a law firm,” Condon said. “I can tell you first hand our next Attorney General must be a proven prosecutor. That proven prosecutor is Alan Wilson. Alan has an impressive resume and will make us proud as Attorney General.”

“I have seen Alan Wilson fight crime first hand and I know he will make an outstanding Attorney General. That is why I urge all South Carolinians to join me in supporting Alan Wilson for Attorney General,” continued Condon.

Bolchoz and Condon were joined at the news conferences by United States Representative Joe Wilson, who is the father of their choice for Attorney General.

“It is an honor to have the support of Charlie Condon. I have greatly admired his work as both a Solicitor and as Attorney General and hope to follow his lead when it comes to keeping our families safe,” Wilson said.

Alan Wilson is a proven prosecutor and an Iraq War combat veteran. He is a former Assistant Solicitor and a former Assistant Attorney General. Wilson and his wife Jennifer have two young children, Michael and Anna Grace. They live in Lexington.
