BOLCHOZ CHALLENGES LORD TO TELL THE TRUTH

Former Attorney General Candidate Sheds Light on Negative Attacks

COLUMBIA – Former Republican candidate for Attorney General Robert Bolchoz issued the following response to Lord’s recent criticism of Bolchoz.

“I am disappointed (yet not surprised given the state of his campaign and his history of negative tactics) that Leighton Lord decided to mischaracterize my experience and background in a press release he issued yesterday.

His statement is particularly disturbing given that on Thursday afternoon, June 10, 2010, Lord kept me on the phone for almost an hour while he pled for my endorsement and made personal attacks on the last qualified candidate in the race, Alan Wilson.

I will not stand idly by as Leighton Lord plays games with the system, misstates the facts, denigrates my career in public service, and attempts to buy his way into an elective office for which he is not qualified.

Like every citizen in South Carolina, I deserve an Attorney General who is committed to the high calling of public service and dedicated to the goal of keeping the public safe from criminals.  Voters should be wary of a big shot boardroom lawyer seeking to build a resume for the next office he seeks.

I endorsed Alan Wilson after spending months on the campaign trail with him and Lord.  I have spoken to both of them at length and spent days considering my decision.

I have come to the inescapable conclusion, which is reinforced with each passing day, that Alan shares my principles and convictions regarding the issues that matter.  He has lived a life of dedicated public service. Most importantly, he is a prosecutor who knows how to send criminals to prison.

I believe Alan Wilson is the best choice for South Carolina Attorney General.”
