“Live 5 Investigates: Sex trafficking in the Lowcountry”

In February, Charleston’s WCSC television produced a special report regarding human trafficking.Murphy & Grantland attorney Elliot Daniels spoke with reporter Kolbie Satterfield about the crimes and what attorneys are doing to in response.

“There’s a lot of work to be done,” said Daniels. “But there’s been a tremendous push in recent years and I think the US attorney’s office, and the attorney general’s office deserves a lot of credit for that. They’ve put a lot of energy in this issue.”

When Attorney General Alan Wilson was elected back in 2012 little was known about the problem of human trafficking. At that time South Carolina was one of the worst states in the country on enforcement of human trafficking. However now South Carolina is one of the best states in the country.

The Attorney General Office is working to fight human trafficking in the state.
